It has been a long time since we had had a meeting. Last week we had a great time at Traditions in Wayland playing bingo. 

Good luck to the two teams who submitted PSA's. These creative PSA's will be viewed by our group at our May10th meeting!

The Wayland Middle School is hosting  Shaun Derek to our School (This special guest will be coming at a later date.  We will let you know when.)

Don't forget to sign up for EMpower Camp! The weeks are June 26 and August 7th. Email jane_purser@wayland.k12.ma.us with any questions. (see link below for more info)

If you can please bring a snack to share with around 10 other people!


Also don't forget that the Youth to Youth conference is July 29th-the 31st. Wayland Cares will pay for any participants.(See link below)
Derek, from WHS, -who has attended these conferences- will be coming to one of our MS WC meetings to share his experience and answer any questions you may have.

ThisWEEK: World Languages Week 2017
Celebrating Language and Culture at WMS!
March 6 - 10, 2017
World Language Week kicks off on Next Monday!
We'll be sharing our cultures, tasting different food, and watching a cultural performance sponsored by our PTO! There will be special food for lunch in the dining room, Students can participate by dressing up each day of the week:


Mon. 3/6 - Where you're from, where you've been, where you'd like to go one day:
wear anything with a foreign phrase on it, a traditional outfit, etc.


Tues. 3/7 - French: wear Bleu, Blanc [white], Rouge


Wed. 3/8 - Chinese: wear  红  Hóng
Thurs. 3/9 - Spanish: wear Amarillo, Rojo


Fri. 3/10 - Latin: wear Purpureus, Aureus [gold]


ScreenagersGrowing up in the Digital Age
Thursday, March 30, at 7:00 pm at Wayland HIGH School


Screenagers Registration Info!
The PTO is excited to be sponsoring a screening and discussion ofScreenagers: Growing up in the Digital Age. There will not be a daytime screening for students – we suggest that parents/guardians and their students attend the evening event together.  This is NOT a drop-off event, and parents are asked to sit with their students.  The post-screening discussion will be moderated by Dr. Mark Kline, the Clinical Director of Human Relations Service in Wellesley.  A suggested $5/family donation will be collected at the door to offset the costs of the event.

Registration is now open for Wayland Middle School families.  To register, email your name, your student’s name, the number of attendees in your party, and a contact email address toWaylandMiddleSchoolPTO@gmail.com.  We will respond with a confirmation that we have received your request.

Come and hear string musicians from grades 3 - 12 play! Middle school ensembles include 6th grade and 7th & 8th grade Orchestras.  An exciting progression of pieces is sure to delight and entertain.

Save the Date...The World's Fair is Coming!
PTO Seeking Volunteers
Loker School
Saturday, March 25th, 1:00 to 4:00 PM
The World’s Fair is coming to Loker School on Saturday, March 25th from 1pm-4pm! Created to celebrate Wayland’s cultural diversity, parents and students from the three elementary schools or groups of high school students work together to assemble booths representing the best of their culture or a culture they admire.  Each booth contains important history, crafts and artwork, and a tiny taste of a popular food from a given culture.  If you would like to get involved in the 2017 Wayland Elementary
Schools’ World’s Fair, we would love your help creating culture booths, bulletin boards and flyers, finding cultural performers, making food or just lending a hand at the fair. Wayland School Community Programs is now enrolling for its winter sessions.  Complete information by school, day, and grade level is online:

Ms. Purser and Mr. Verhoosky will run the meeting.  They will start with a couple fun games and then will guide the group through the beginning phase of mapping out PSA announcements for the Middlesex Leadership Competition this spring.

ATI - Campagne during lunches last Thursday and Friday were a success.  Many students completed the ATI logo and turned in. Announcement made to hand in finished logo’s by Tuesday, thank you Izzy!

Book Collection - Ms. Hughes will be coming Wed, Feb 8th, to collect books.

Wayland 2017 Lunar New Year Celebration

The Wayland Chinese-American Association, Arts Wayland and Wayland Public Library invite all families and community members to the Wayland 2017 Lunar New Year Celebration.  The Lunar New Year is a celebration of happiness, peace, harmony, and unity for everyone! You will also enjoy Workshops: Making Dumplings, Chinese Calligraphy, Chinese Tea House, Hands on Fun: Dragon Parade, Chinese Yoyo, Chinese folk arts and crafts, traditional Chinese games, Refreshments: Delicious Asian Cuisine And much more: Win gift certificates to local Asian restaurants and other prizes. Tickets: $10 for adults; $5 for seniors, student and Wayland public school teachers; children under 5 free; Family (one household) maximum: $25, ($20 for Wayland public school teacher’s family).
